RD-5G30 is one of the models of RocketDish under the airMax series by Ubiquity. Like every other Ubiquiti product RD-5G30 too provides highly functional products for cheap whilst ensuring quality. A factor distinguishing RD-5G30 from other models is that this operates on the 5 GHz band.
Its striking feature is PtP (Point-to-Point) bridging. This helps as it eliminates the need for wires and cables to connect several networks. Since RD-5G30 offers dual polarity, no additional costs have to be incurred to set 2 antennas of different polarities. Dual polarity also guarantees high quality for media transmission such as audio, video and other media files.
The whole structure of the RD-5G30 is such that it is suitable to be deployed outdoors. Its construction is described as carrier-class implying adherence to high standards of quality. It can withstand adverse weather conditions and is sturdy and durable. Its plug and play feature allows it to be easily mounted on the Rocket base-station.
As RD-5G30 works on the 5 GHz spectrum it is free to use worldwide, there are no legal hassles to worry about, as in the case of other bandwidths. 5 GHz is also much faster than every other bandwidth offered in the market. Since most common devices work on the 2.4 GHz spectrum there is no interference (noise) as well. This makes the connections more stable and lesser prone to outages. Although it does face difficulty to transmit through physical barriers.
In conclusion, RD-5G30 is a highly effective tool that has a very simple mechanism but delivers enterprise-level performance. It is fast, consistent and reliable. It also helps in cost-cutting and allows efficient utilisation of resources as it delivers high performance with little investment (both physical and financial).
